Whole-home softening & filtration.
Everything here installs where the water line comes into your house, so the water gets treated once and every fixture past that point benefits — the kitchen tap, all the showers, the washing machine, the water heater, the ice maker. If you also want bottled-quality water for drinking and cooking, that’s separate equipment at the sink: see drinking water systems. Plenty of Lubbock homes run one of each.
Which one does my house need?
There are five, and for most houses in town the first one is the right answer. Rather than guess, we test what is actually coming out of your tap and quote the system that water calls for — which is sometimes smaller than people expect to hear.
Standard Whole Home Softener + Filtration
48,000 grains of softening, plus carbon for the chlorine.
Lubbock delivers water that is both hard and chlorinated, and this deals with both in one piece of equipment. The softening resin takes out the minerals behind the scale on your fixtures and the film on the shower door. The carbon handles the chlorine — the smell when you run a bath, and the reason your skin and hair feel how they do afterwards.
Best for: three- and four-bedroom houses on city water

XL Whole Home Softener
The same build, sized up to 64,000 grains.
None of the components change here. Same valve, same resin, same carbon — there is simply more of it, in a taller tank. What that buys you is how much water the system gets through before it has to recharge itself. In a house with a lot of people or a lot of bathrooms, the Standard would be cycling more often than it ought to.
Best for: eight or more people, or four-plus bathrooms

Dual Tank — City Water
Our largest, with the carbon in a tank of its own.
Instead of packing softening resin and carbon into one vessel, this runs them as two separate tanks off a single ProValve. Each medium gets its full depth to work with rather than sharing the space, and the carbon tank backwashes itself on its own schedule instead of being pulled and replaced.
Best for: larger houses, heavy use, water you can smell

Dual Tank — Well Water
For iron, manganese and the rotten-egg smell.
Wells around Lubbock County hand you a different set of problems than the city line does. Orange staining in the toilet tank, a sulfur smell when the hot tap runs, a metallic edge on the taste — that is iron, hydrogen sulfide and manganese, and a softener on its own does nothing about any of it. This oxidises them out first, using air rather than chemicals, and softens afterwards.
Best for: any house drawing from a private well

Salt-Free Water Conditioner
Scale protection with no salt to carry.
This works on a different principle to a softener. The minerals stay in your water; what changes is that they stop sticking to the inside of your pipes, your water heater and your fixtures. No brine tank taking up garage floor, no bags to lift, nothing plugged in and nothing running to a drain. There is one honest trade-off, and we spell it out below.
Best for: households avoiding salt, or with no drain nearby
Details and specsWant bottle-quality water at the kitchen tap as well? That’s a drinking water system — most homes end up with one of each.
Standard Whole Home Softener + Filtration
City water · most Lubbock homes
One system doing two jobs, with a brine tank alongside it holding the salt the softener draws on to recharge itself. Once it is in, every faucet, shower and appliance in the house is running treated water.
What’s inside
- Honest ProValve. Ceramic discs for longer life and less maintenance, a configurable program interface, long-term memory for program settings and a 72-hour memory backup, so a power cut doesn’t wipe your settings.
- USA-made high-capacity softening resin. 10% crosslinked, which resists chlorine and oxidation and lasts longer than standard resin, at high flow without a pressure drop.
- Granular activated coconut shell carbon. Treats chlorine, chloramine and other contaminants. Sustainably sourced, and sized for a long service life.
- Polishing gravel. Supports the resin bed so water distributes evenly and doesn’t channel straight through.

XL Whole Home Softener
City water · 8+ residents or 4+ bathrooms
Built from the same parts as the Standard, scaled up: 64,000 grains rather than 48,000, held in a taller 12" tank carrying 75 lbs of resin and 15 lbs of carbon. The practical effect is that it goes longer between recharges and holds up better when several taps are running at the same time.

Dual Tank System — City Water
City water · separate softening and carbon tanks
Rather than asking a single tank to do both jobs, this divides the work between two vessels driven by one ProValve — resin in the first, carbon in the second. Each gets its full volume to work with, and because the carbon tank backwashes on its own, the media is not something you are replacing on a calendar.

Dual Tank System — Well Water
Private wells · iron, sulfur, manganese
A well is its own situation. The chlorine problem disappears and is replaced by iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide — the staining, the metallic taste and the smell. A softener is not designed to remove any of those, so this system takes care of them first and softens afterwards.
What’s inside
- Honest AIO ProValve. Oxidizes and removes iron, sulfur and manganese without chemicals, using a pressurized air pocket to treat the water at the source. Cuts the odors and staining wells are known for.
- Katalox Light. Traps fine sediment and contaminants and raises pH. Self-cleaning, with backwashing that keeps the media working without much from you.
- USA-made high-capacity softening resin and granular activated catalytic coconut shell carbon, as in the city-water systems.
- Polishing gravel to keep flow even through the bed.
Salt-Free Water Conditioner
City or well · no salt, no drain, no power
For households that would rather not take on the upkeep a traditional softener involves. The calcium and magnesium stay in your water; what the conditioner changes is their behaviour, so they no longer bind to the inside of pipes, fixtures and appliances and scale never gets a foothold.
- No brine tank, no salt bags. Nothing to haul, refill or store.
- No drain and no electricity. No regeneration cycle, no moving parts.
- Keeps the healthy minerals. Calcium and magnesium stay in your water.
- Works on city or well water, with lower maintenance cost and longer appliance life.
The honest trade-off: this is a conditioner, not a softener, and the distinction matters. It keeps scale from forming, which is what protects your plumbing and your appliances — but the hardness is still in the water. So if the thing bothering you is how the shower feels or how your laundry comes out, a softener is what you actually want. If it is protecting the house with no maintenance, this is the simpler piece of equipment. Tell us which one is bothering you and we will point you at the right one.
